I know, it' a hard choice to me. I could come up with femal characters for hours, but there are only so many spaces.

My choice is .....San.

She's a fresh change from those 'girly' main characters who won't even touch a sword much less kill something with it. For instance, that girl off of Escaflowne, don't even remember her name...she was a wimp.) Although Rei is in a close second, she was very tough.

for Roland, the girl from Escaflowne, her name is Hitomi (lolz)

anyways I voted for Asuka, She's strong, a b.i.t.c.h and pilots an Eva...lol, she's my fave off the list.

But if Intergral/Integra Fairbrook (from Hellsing, yet again) was on there, I choose her, she handles herself so well, and never let's her emotions get in the way of her duty, she kicks ass. =P

Faye from Cowboy Bebop.

She knows how the handle a gun and is very? err *Hot*.

I like the scene where she is leaning out the back of a convertible to shot the tires out from her pursuers...

However, I think she is my favorite from all the ones on that list.

San is the best out of that list and the best female main character that I know. Hmm, I think I need to see more animes with good female lead characters :-/

i'd have to say that melphina from outlaw star is the best out of the options that you have listed...other than that, i'd say lain, from serial experiments lain...

also, they are both unusual in many ways...cuz melphina is like a half-human/half-android and that is cool...mostly bacause she's always confused, which is both funny and entertaining...

and lain is just weird overall...i mean, she starts out as normal, but then everything goes wacko (for lack of a better word), when one of her classmates die...so...yeah...
