You know what gets me sometimes? You got to a GENERAL RPG forum, and all you get are people talking about Final Fantasy at every corner.
It brings me to questions like, are there just waaaaaaay too many FF fanboys out there? Hasn't anyone played any other RPGs besides FF? I mean... take a look at Golden Sun, 7th Saga, Lufia, and a ton of other modern and "retro" RPGs, and they are just as good.
So really, why all FF?

Wow I so totally agree mm. Seriously it is way to horrible on how much everyone gets so hyped over it. Seriously there are so maney other much greater RPGs out there. Such as the Suikoden series, Chrono Series, and so maney others. I mean don't get me wrong the FFs are a very good series but there are alot others out there that are better.

The matter is quite simple, actually. Final Fantasy is an already trusthworthy, quality, and popular game.
Of course, there are indeed other series, just as good, and in some cases even better, but they're not in the high position to which the Final Fantasy title has climbed -- it's already been and still is in the spotlight.
You might as well thank it, for it brought the RPG genre closer to the center of the general gaming media.

Yes, with the popularity of the FF series RPGs standards are raised if other titles hope to compete.
I myself havent played all that many RPGs, but FF is what for the most part got me interested in the RPG genre, and I think that FF games are a great influence on players to pick up a few RPGs. I actually look at it as a good thing for the most part that FF is a huge hype. But its still a great line of games.

All I know is the FF series is one of the better RPGs out there. They have over a dozen games for several consoles, sold maybe over 10 million copies, and has people dressing up as Squall and Cloud at cos-play conventions. Why?
I don't know why. People just like Final Fantasy. It does freak me out that at every forum in the history of video games someone posts something about FF, but then again it shows how much of a dedicated fan they are.
Appreciate the fact that people like FF instead of hating it all the time.

i always had this impression that since ff6 and ff7 Square are just using the Final Fantasy name to sell us crap...
