Ahh yes, Evangelion, the animé that revolutionized Japanese animé. One of my all time favorites, the solemn feel is truely unique. Very interesting, though sometimes slow to get to the point.

1) Serial Experiments Lain was absolutely unique from all animes I've seen. The plot was very captivating and original, plot twists were amazing, and what I really enjoyed about the anime was that my favorite character was in the center of it. The way we see the events of the anime is very interesting as well - we see everything Lain sees, yet we do not know how she feels about it. Lain, while being the central character of this anime, remains the biggest mystery to us until the very end; she is what will make you follow the plot that is so full or information that you won't be able to tear your eyes off screen for a second while watching it. Honestly, speaking of genre of SE:Lain, the word Infornography describes it perfectly. Enthrilling, unique, amazing.
2) Neon Genesis Evangelion, and, to be more specific, End Of Evangelion. Well, it's all about originality: I absolutely enjoyed the concept of "main heroes develop their insanity throughout the series". I loved the concept of ridiculously weak main character (and hated Shinji for that, heh). Besides, it was amazingly spectacular (I'm talking about EoE here). I liked Rei quite a lot, too. Overall, as series without such a great ending are definitely incomplete, and EoE without prequel that is series is nothing, I'd like to stamp the mark "I LOVE IT!" on both series and movie for lots of action, drama and originality.
3) Imma Youjo. It has everything you may only want - lots of ecchi, interesting and pretty original story (actually, there are three different stories in three absolutely different world settings for the three OVAs), and, more importantly, characters! Or should I say, Maya (or all the three Mayas for the three OVAs? Heh). I have found Maya (all three... damn, am I gonna be tired of repeating that?) to be one of the most interesting, intriguing and loveable anime characters. The secondary characters aren't put aside either, and are pretty memorable as well. All in all, this one is superb.
4) Cowboy Bebop was good. No, not "excellent", "superb" or anything like that - 'good'. Sure, all 26 episodes went like a breeze for me - but I was about to throw out at the pathetic pack of cliches that the main plotline was. Oh, and at Vicious, too. Villains don't get any worse than that -- give them a long sword, a black cape and low voice and you'll get tons of moronic boys wetting their pants at how "badass" those villains are. Oh, and the ending is unsatisfying, too.
5) Mystery Of The Necronomicon. B00tiful artwork, memorable characters, enthrilling plot. Still, too short (4 OVAs).
6) A Wind Named Amnesia, I've found to be a very good movie. Great setting that reminded me of Wells' and Bradbury's works is what I consider to be the best feature of this movie...
Don't have time but will post a few others.

Hmm... Really that was nothing I have posted longer before. Here is some more.
Inu Yasha: Obviously seen by looking at both my avatar and my name this is obvious. But anyways this is such a fun anime to watch seeing the demons just trying to picture yourself there. Thinking of accually being able to get a jewel shard or something like that it is just so great. Just watch it you should also like it your self. But the anime is such a great one. Anyone that owns cable or a VHS or DVD play should check this anime out. It has to be my favorite over all but there are others right under it. But Sesshoumaru is so evil and is some hell of a fighter.
Bast ard: Just always loved this anime it just hooked me in. I love the way it is drawn and I also love the way the story line is played out. Just an overall awsome anime.
Ranma 1/2: Do I really need to explain come on the comic added geniousness in this anime makes it just so fun to watch.
Betterman Forte: This has to be the best mecha anime at least I think you would call it a mecha anime. Its so cool to see the mechs jumping around and fighting it out. But other than that the drawing and the story is also very enjoyable.
Trigun: Love the way this anime is played. I love the old style of it. I like the way all the old gun slinger style is played out. And just the way Vash is drawn at times is just so awsome.
Well I think that about sums up my thoughts on a few of my favorite anime.

These are my top 5 animes with no specific order:
Ranma 1/2: You gotta love the humor and the action in this anime. Well, it's not a great story or anything like that, but it's just fun and I like its romantic comedy.
Trigun: I enjoyed this show alot; the story is great, and it has good and memorable characters too..and I like the action which involves gun fights.
Record of Lodoss War:" An RPG game that's played as an anime"..that's what I thought about this anime when I saw it, but it's like an RPG that has an excellent epic story and a great cast of characters. It's a high quality anime, and one of the best of all time.
Fushigi Yuugi: It's a mixture of alot of things; romance, comedy, action and fantasy. I also love the art of this anime and some of its characters are my faves of all time, especially the villain, Nakago, whom I consider one of the best villains
Rurouni Kenshin: This anime also has action, comedy, and action..but guess what?I prefer its sword fighting action the most. Plus it has an excellent story based on a swordsman who lived at the Meji era in Japan and had to face his dark past as Hitokiri (man slayer).

hm... I got a new favourite ^^
RahXephon - I love it because of the plot and how the anime revolves around the characters relationships and feelings. This is sort of like Evangelion, though it is less symbolic, less 'angsty'. There's quite a few twists in the plot, and it's fabulous nonetheless ^_^
