This game is just like any other Megaman title and you know it as the little blue bomber runs around in 2-D action kicking but now the gaming is done differently and fun. //What's New!!!// A new hero that appears in the game named Axl who which he is playable and isn't much great of impression. You got the new terms of changing different game action which switch over during certain gameplay to spread your strategy when fighting from 2-D to 3-D situations. All out command to switch out your hero during gameplay with another party member that you choose for the mission for strategic uses like an RPG style. And last but not least Character upgrade as you save allies through the game and gain certain items to advance a certain hero in the game. The gameplay is just solid as it can be to be the 1st installment of the series to hit the PS2 and in Cel Shade and the story isn't much cool either as they just mashed in a bunch of trash of a reason for you not to play with X for a long term of the game unitl the middle so basically your stuck with Axl and Zero mainly.
[Controls]- 1.5
The controls is like no ther MM title to date as you have nothing much different from the PS1 controls from the previous titles on the last system they were launched. You have the L1 button o switch out characters and L2&R2 to rotate your cam and your right analog stick to switch between weapons obtain from bosses. And the reaction time to them are easy as it come. //Learning Curve// Easy as eating two cupcakes in 20 Secs, even for beginners you'll be okay.
[Graphics]- 1.5
Okay, this wasn't what I wanted to see as the first MM title to launch on the PS2 but it can be overcome. The Cel graphics makes the game looks bright which is good and one thing I notice is that it doesn't really lags in certain areas were the game keeps going on so thats good. The CG cut scenes are something to admire but I wish they went back to animation cut scenes like they did with X4 but oh well. The details on the environment is great and the enemies designs are okay but for bosses, a little to kiddy if you ask me and the Character design like X, Axl and Zero just seems to stand out more of the stages for some reason.
[Sound]- 1.0
I never really notice the tracks or SE but when I finally caught it I saw why I didn't care and give an basic score, the SE is just not like it's been done before and I wish to here something fancy come out of X Buster and Zero's Z-Saber you know and the Music isn't just that great, if Capcom stop using that old 70's Japnese video game rock and get to some of todays hard rock then maybe that will get a player moving.
[Value]- 1.0
Okay, what are really looking at to expect ot beat the game, hm....I say less then 5 hours if your an Veteran in this series but for n00bs maybe just the day but shouldn't take more then 2 but after completion you would have to go find X's armor if you haven't already and finish upgrading them and if you like for no hell reason go try to find every single reploid which is hell and boring. So really nothing much so if you are one of the players who ove Megaman then you'll will play it later on when your in a Mega mood.
[Total Overall]- 6.5 (Not the Greatest, Not the Worst)
[Opinion]
Okay the fact that I am a Hard Core fan of the series, I am somewhat disappointed in the whole thing and maybe for mostof you fans your disappointed as well so thats that. But my problem was that I really wanted to play with X straight from the beginning, not some rookie punk who options of fighting isn't as great, just for everyone to know you have to unlock X when you defeat 4 or 5 bosses at least. Axl isn't all that bad though as he can copy the abilities of Reploids or transform into them if they are his height. And his specials from bosses are somewhat cool as he has different guns like a cannon to dual machine guns to his laser. But nothing special. X is same o same expect that he only has one set of armor to collect! And they're easy to find! And for last Zero, they made him slow and weak which I hated that cause he's a Legend and you can't do that to him....though his roll in the game was vital but no....anyways hope you like my review of just complant to one of my favorite series sad to say......and it's done from one of my favorite Developers....darn you Capcom!!!!!!!!!!!
